Firstly, the olive-shaped handle is ergonomically designed to better fit the user’s palm. The oval shape makes the grip more comfortable and ensures better force during puncture.
Secondly, the lock mechanism has two states when in use: safe state and puncture state. In the safe state with lock button unpressed, the blade is prevented from being damaged or accidentally injured. In puncture state with lock button pressed, the blade will be unsheathed during insertion. The blade will be shielded and protected by the spring shield when insertion is completed.
Thirdly, the design includes a protective sheath to prevent blade damage or accidental injury before penetration. After the obturator point penetrates the body, the shield will spring forward to extend into the body cavity, surrounding the point of the obturator. The shield thus protects the internal body organs from inadvertent contact with the point of the obturator.
